Volunteer Spotlight: Hunter Churchill Honored with Daily Point of Light Award for Championing Inclusion Through Sports

The Global Volunteer Recognition Program (GVRP) is proud to spotlight Hunter Churchill, an inspiring youth volunteer and community leader who has been honored with the prestigious Daily Point of Light Award for his work advancing inclusion through sports and service.

At just 17 years old, Hunter has already made a significant impact in his Virginia community. As the founder of the Lake Braddock Special Olympics Fan Club, he’s created a space where students of all abilities can come together, compete, and connect through the power of athletics. His goal? To make sure every athlete feels valued, celebrated, and supported — both on and off the field.

Hunter has led initiatives to promote inclusivity, kindness, and respect among his peers while volunteering with Special Olympics Virginia, participating in Unified Sports, and mentoring students with disabilities. His leadership has fostered meaningful friendships and helped shift the school culture to one that embraces diversity and accessibility.
