Yasmin Atwal – Recipient of the American Citizenship Award

The Global Volunteer Recognition Program is proud to honor Yasmin Atwal as a recipient of the American Citizenship Award, a national recognition celebrating youth who demonstrate outstanding leadership, civic involvement, and a commitment to service.

Yasmin is a 2025 graduate of Darrow School in New York and will be attending Suffolk University this fall. Her passion for community service spans a wide range of impactful causes, from animal welfare to environmental sustainability, youth advocacy, and STEM mentorship.

A talented and multifaceted young leader, Yasmin is an award-winning equestrian, vocalist, lifeguard, swim instructor, and TEDx speaker. She is also the author of The Human Code: Law Through Our Eyes, showcasing her dedication to justice and youth perspectives on legal systems.

Yasmin has volunteered extensively with animals, which has further deepened her compassion and commitment to animal welfare. She is also a proud member of Justice for Children and Youth, The Honor Society, and serves on the Board of Directors for Green Teen Generation, an organization committed to environmental action.

As a co-founder of Women STEM Mentorship, Yasmin champions gender equity in science and technology, mentoring the next generation of female leaders. Her advocacy led her to speak at the World Youth Sustainability Summit, where she inspired global peers with her vision for a more sustainable and just world.

With a strong foundation in service and leadership, Yasmin exemplifies the values of the American Citizenship Award. Her story reflects the power of using one’s voice, talents, and time to create positive change.
