What is the Global Volunteer Recognition Program?
The Global Volunteer Recognition Program™ is a volunteer recognition community that celebrates people who give their time, talent, energy, and heart to help others. GVRP supports volunteers through recognition opportunities, awards, leadership education, service tracking tools, volunteer projects, and storytelling.
What is the mission of GVRP?
Our mission is to celebrate the contributions of all volunteers to create a better world.
Who can participate in GVRP?
GVRP is open to volunteers of all ages and backgrounds. Students, adults, families, pageant titleholders, nonprofit volunteers, school groups, corporate teams, community leaders, and remote volunteers can all participate. Volunteers under 18 may need parent or guardian permission depending on the activity, award, or submission process.
Is GVRP only for volunteers in the United States?
No. GVRP has a global mission and recognizes volunteer service completed in many communities, countries, and causes. Volunteers can participate through local service, international service, remote service, virtual projects, community projects, school service, nonprofit work, and independent volunteer impact.
Is the Global Volunteer Recognition Program a nonprofit?
No. The Global Volunteer Recognition Program™ LLC is a small business with a social impact mission. GVRP is dedicated to celebrating volunteers, expanding access to meaningful recognition, and supporting service-based leadership development.
What makes GVRP different?
Many organizations focus on recruiting volunteers. GVRP focuses on recognizing volunteers. Our goal is to help people document their service, celebrate their impact, grow as leaders, and feel valued for the work they are already doing.
Membership Questions
Do I need to be a member to participate in GVRP?
No. You do not need to be a member to participate in free volunteer projects, read our blog, explore resources, or purchase many GVRP products. However, membership is the best option for volunteers who want ongoing recognition support, award opportunities, member updates, and a stronger connection to the GVRP community.
How much does Global Volunteer Recognition Program membership cost?
Individual annual membership dues are currently $100 per recognition year, which equals approximately $8.33 per month when divided across the year.

Why does GVRP charge annual membership dues?
Like many service clubs, leadership organizations, professional associations, scouting programs, and other membership-based communities, GVRP uses annual dues to support its operations and member services.
Annual dues help fund membership administration, volunteer-hour documentation support, member records, technology, communications, recognition program development, volunteer projects, customer support, and the certificate and custom member medal provided with membership.

Am I paying to receive a volunteer award?
No. Annual dues provide membership in the Global Volunteer Recognition Program and support the services, resources, administration, and physical membership materials included with the program.
Eligibility-based awards require qualifying documented service. Purchasing membership does not replace volunteer-hour requirements, documentation requirements, deadlines, review, or other criteria.
Optional physical award items may be purchased separately after the applicable eligibility requirements are met.
What is included with annual membership?
Every current-year individual membership includes:

Are Global Volunteer Awards included with membership?
Qualifying members may receive a personalized digital Global Volunteer Award certificate, recognition at the applicable Bronze, Silver, Gold, or Platinum level, and placement on the official Honor Roll.
The award must be earned through qualifying documented service. Physical medals, pins, printed certificates, and other keepsakes are optional purchases unless otherwise stated.

Are Leadership Academy courses included with membership?
No. Leadership Academy courses are optional self-paced educational products sold separately unless a specific membership listing states otherwise.
Members may receive special offers or savings on selected courses when available.
Is the President’s Volunteer Service Award included or guaranteed?
No. PVSA availability depends on the status and rules of the national program, GVRP’s active certification status, official eligibility requirements, documentation, deadlines, and award availability.
GVRP continues to offer independent recognition through the Global Volunteer Awards and other GVRP programs regardless of the status of outside recognition programs.

What happens if I join later in the year?
Membership follows the calendar recognition year.
For example, a 2026 membership applies to eligible service completed from January 1 through December 31, 2026, even when the membership is purchased later in the year.
Members must still meet current submission deadlines, documentation requirements, and award criteria.
Can I purchase a membership for a past year?
Past-year memberships may be available for volunteers who completed eligible service during that calendar year.
Before purchasing, confirm that you have the required documentation and can meet the applicable submission deadlines and recognition requirements.
Is membership required for the Global Student Citizenship & Service Award?
No. Membership is not required to apply for the Global Student Citizenship & Service Award.
That award uses a separate nomination and review process focused on a student’s citizenship, character, leadership, service, responsibility, and positive impact.
Volunteer Hours and Tracking
Do remote volunteer hours count?
Yes. Remote volunteer hours may count when the service is meaningful, trackable, and completed for a volunteer purpose. Remote service can include online service projects, writing letters, supporting awareness campaigns, creating educational resources, helping nonprofits virtually, digital volunteering, humanitarian mapping, social impact projects, and other service activities completed from home.
How should I track my volunteer hours?
We recommend keeping a clear record of the date, organization or project name, service description, number of hours, location or remote status, supervisor or contact information when available, and proof of completion. Good records can help with awards, scholarships, school requirements, resumes, pageant paperwork, service portfolios, and personal reflection.
Does GVRP have a volunteer hour tracker?
Yes. GVRP offers a Volunteer Hour Tracking App designed to help volunteers organize service activities, track hours, keep notes, and maintain digital records for recognition opportunities.
Does GVRP offer a printable volunteer hour log or journal?
Yes. The Volunteer Impact Journal & Coloring Book is designed to help volunteers track hours, reflect on service, save memories, color impact maps, collect keepsakes, prepare for awards, and organize their volunteer story. It is helpful for students, families, pageant contestants, nonprofit volunteers, scholarship applicants, GVRP members, and anyone who wants a meaningful record of their service.
Can I use my own spreadsheet, notebook, or school tracking form?
Yes. Volunteers may use their preferred tracking method. The important part is keeping accurate records that show what service was completed, when it was completed, how many hours were served, and what impact was created.
Does GVRP verify volunteer hours?
GVRP may request verification when needed for awards, recognition, or program review. Verification may include a supervisor confirmation, organization letter, signed hour log, certificate, screenshot, event record, photo, project summary, or other documentation showing that the service was completed.
Can I log hours from more than one organization?
Yes. Many volunteers serve with multiple organizations, schools, nonprofits, clubs, churches, community groups, events, or independent service projects. You may track all meaningful volunteer service in one place.
Volunteer Projects and Service Opportunities
Does GVRP offer volunteer projects?
Yes. GVRP offers volunteer projects, monthly challenges, remote-friendly activities, awareness campaigns, creative service ideas, and community impact opportunities. Projects may include environmental service, donation drives, cards or letters, awareness campaigns, humanitarian mapping, history projects, digital volunteering, and other accessible ways to give back.
Are GVRP volunteer projects free?
Many GVRP volunteer projects are free to participate in. Some optional recognition items, badges, journals, courses, awards, or event products may be sold separately.
Can I volunteer from home?
Yes. Many GVRP projects and recognition pathways are remote-friendly. Remote volunteering is a great option for students, families, people with busy schedules, volunteers with transportation barriers, titleholders, professionals, caregivers, and anyone who wants to make an impact from home.
Can I suggest or co-host a volunteer project?

Do I have to attend the gala to receive recognition?
Attendance may be encouraged for some events, but it is not always required. Depending on the award, event, and product details, some awards, certificates, trophies, plaques, or recognition items may be shipped or purchased separately. Please review the specific listing or contact GVRP before purchasing if you are unsure.
What is the Annual Volunteer Award Gala and Retreat?
The Annual Volunteer Award Gala and Retreat is a special recognition event that celebrates volunteer service, leadership, and community impact. It brings together volunteers, award recipients, families, supporters, sponsors, and community leaders to honor the power of service.
Can businesses or supporters sponsor the gala?

Can I nominate someone else for recognition?
Yes. You may nominate another volunteer, organization, student, leader, team, or community member when nominations are open or when the recognition opportunity allows it.
Can GVRP help with award nominations?
GVRP may support member nominations for relevant volunteer awards when appropriate. This may include helping identify award opportunities, reviewing impact information, preparing nomination language, or submitting nominations when the program rules allow it.
What is the President’s Volunteer Service Award?
The President’s Volunteer Service Award, also known as PVSA, is a national volunteer recognition program in the United States. GVRP has provided PVSA-related information and updates for volunteers. Is GVRP currently processing PVSA awards?
Please check the current PVSA information page for the latest update. If PVSA processing is paused or unavailable through the overseeing program, GVRP may still offer other recognition opportunities, including the Global Volunteer Awards™, Volunteer Achievement Badges, and other GVRP recognition pathways.
What is the American Citizenship Award?
The American Citizenship Award is a student recognition package designed to celebrate positive character, citizenship, service, and leadership. It can be a meaningful option for schools, families, youth groups, homeschool groups, and organizations that want to recognize students.
Volunteer Achievement Badges
What are Volunteer Achievement Badges?
Volunteer Achievement Badges are recognition items that help volunteers celebrate specific types of service, leadership, consistency, impact, and volunteer participation. Badges can support resumes, portfolios, social media, school records, pageant paperwork, service logs, and personal achievement tracking.
Who can earn a Volunteer Achievement Badge?
Badge eligibility depends on the badge description and proof requirements. Badges may recognize remote volunteering, global impact, leadership, consistency, cause-focused service, history and heritage work, service milestones, and other meaningful volunteer achievements.
Do I need proof to earn a badge?
Proof of service may be requested depending on the badge. Acceptable proof may include photos, screenshots, service logs, volunteer letters, project summaries, event materials, certificates, social media posts, or other documentation showing that the activity was completed.
Are badges digital or physical?
Badge options may vary by listing. Please review the individual product description before purchase to confirm whether the badge is digital, physical, made to order, shipped, or requires proof of completion.
Leadership Academy
What is the GVRP Leadership Academy?
The GVRP Leadership Academy offers self-paced online certification courses for volunteers, students, nonprofit teams, community leaders, and anyone who wants to grow their service impact.
Do I need to be a GVRP member to take a Leadership Academy course?
No. Leadership Academy courses are sold separately and do not require membership unless a specific listing says otherwise. Members may receive updates or special offers when available.

What types of events does GVRP host?
GVRP may host volunteer challenges, annual recognition events, award galas, retreats, virtual activities, community campaigns, and service-based opportunities throughout the year.
Can non-members attend the gala?
Event eligibility and ticket availability may vary by year. Some gala tickets or event options may be available to non-members, while certain recognition opportunities may require active membership or award eligibility. Shipping, Digital Products, and Orders
Do you offer combined shipping?
Yes. GVRP is happy to combine shipping when possible. To qualify for combined shipping, purchases generally need to be paid within 24 hours of each other. If more than 24 hours have passed between orders, we may not be able to combine shipping due to processing timelines. When shipping is successfully combined, the difference in shipping cost may be refunded once the order is processed.
Are digital products delivered electronically?
