Join Monthly Virtual and Remote Volunteer Projects

🌍🤝 Ready to make a difference from anywhere? The Global Volunteer Recognition Program hosts monthly volunteer events that you can join from home, your community, or anywhere in the world. Each project is designed to make a real impact while connecting you with a global community of changemakers.

No membership is required to participate, but members enjoy added benefits like award nominations and official recognition for their service hours. Learn more about membership here.

What to Expect Each Month

We host a variety of remote volunteer opportunities every month, including:

  • Virtual donation drives – contribute to important causes online

  • Community clean-up challenges – help improve local spaces (30–60 minutes)

  • Card-making projects for children and seniors – spread joy from home

  • Mapping and data support for global aid organizations – assist medical and emergency efforts

  • Awareness campaigns for environmental and social causes – educate and engage your network

Each project is flexible and can be completed on your own schedule. Whether you have 15 minutes or several hours, your time matters.

    How to Participate

    Joining a project is simple:

    1. Check the calendar for the latest event.

    2. Click the event name to read details and instructions.

    3. Complete your volunteer activity on your own time.

    4. Share your experience with us on social media or by email.

    January 2026: Kindness & Encouragement Project

    Theme: Start the Year with Service

    Volunteer Achievement Badge Opportunities: Kindness Badge, Digital Volunteer Badge, Community Support Badge, Service Explorer Badge, Monthly Spotlight Badge

    Goal: Create and share positive messages to uplift individuals or groups who may need encouragement at the start of the year.

    How to Complete the Project

    Volunteers may complete one or more of the following activities.

    Option 1: Encouragement Cards

    • Create physical or digital cards with uplifting messages

    • Cards may be for teachers, healthcare workers, seniors, students, volunteers, or nonprofit staff

    • Cards can be emailed, shared on social media, or sent directly to an organization

    Option 2: Encouragement Messages or Letters

    • Write encouraging emails or messages to someone who may need support

    • Messages can be sent to friends, family, coworkers, or community members

    • Messages should be positive, respectful, and inclusive

    Option 3: Public Positivity Post

    • Share a positive message, quote, or story on social media

    • Include why kindness matters or how encouragement impacts communities

    • Tag or mention an organization if appropriate

    Helpful Organizations & Resources

    These organizations accept or inspire encouragement projects and kindness initiatives.

    Volunteers may also support a local organization of their choice.

    What to submit for badges:

    • Screenshot or photo of the card or message

    • Copy of the text used in a message or post

    • Brief written reflection describing who was supported and why

    Volunteers log their own hours as usual.

    February 2026: Awareness Advocate Campaign

    Theme: Spread Awareness about an Important Social Issue

    Goal: Choose a topic you care about and share educational content with your networks.

    How to Complete:

    1. Pick a cause (for example hunger relief, mental wellness, literacy).

    2. Use reputable sources to gather facts (below are suggestions).

    3. Create shareable post or graphics with key takeaways.

    4. Post on social media or send to friends and family with a short caption about why it matters. You can also create a presentation about your topic and share it with the community.

    What to Submit for Badge: Screenshot of your post, a photo of your graphic, text copy of your educational message, or pictures of your in person presentation. 

    March 2026: Virtual Literacy and Mentorship Support

    Theme: Education Advocate & Creative Service

    Goal: Support literacy or mentoring remotely.

    How to Complete:

    1. Choose a book appropriate for a youth group or family reading.

    2. Record yourself reading aloud (audio or video) or read the book in person to a group. 

    3. Upload the recording to a free platform (YouTube unlisted, Google Drive).

    4. Optionally pair it with questions or a discussion guide.

    April 2026: Earth Month Action Plan

    Theme: Earth Advocate, Sustainability Support
    Volunteer Achievement Badge Opportunities: Earth Advocate Badge, Local Impact Badge, Digital Volunteer Badge 

    Goal: Take meaningful eco-friendly actions and share them.

    How to Complete:

    1. Choose two activities from this list or particpate in your own way:

      • Plant a tree or seeds at home.

      • Perform a trash cleanup with photos.

      • Create a social post about reducing waste.

    2. Document what you did with photos and short descriptions.

    May 2026: Mental Health Champion Project

    Theme: Mental Health Awareness & Support

    Goal: Support someone’s mental wellbeing through outreach.

    How to Complete:

    1. Develop a short list of mental health tips, coping skills, or resources.

    2. Create a PDF or graphics set.

    3. Distribute to the public in person or social media.

    June 2026: Volunteer Appreciation Project

    Theme: Kindness and Support for Volunteers

    Goal: Acknowledge volunteers or nonprofit staff anywhere in the world.

    How to Complete:

    1. Choose 3 people or organizations to thank.

    2. Write thank-you letters or create appreciation graphics.

    3. Send them by email or social media.

    July 2026: Global Data & Mapping Support

    Theme: Global Impact and Digital Volunteer

    Goal: Support global causes through digital help.

    How to Complete:

    1. Choose a project that supports global data or crisis response.

    August 2026: Back-to-School Support Drive

    Theme: Education & Digital Volunteer

    Goal: Create support materials for students and teachers.

    How to Complete:

    1. Build a PDF with study tips, planners, or motivational notes.

    2. Share it with teachers or online students.

    3. Encourage others to download and use.

    September 2026: Remote Animal Support

    Theme: Cause-themed Animal Ally Project

    Goal: Support animal welfare virtually.

    How to Complete:

    1. Pick a shelter or rescue.

    2. Offer social media promotion, design flyers, or partner with them on a project.

    3. Share photos or posts supporting adoption and care.

    October 2026: Virtual Creativity for Good

    Theme: Creative Service

    Goal: Use creative arts to support a cause.

    How to Complete:

    1. Write a poem, make digital art, or record a performance with a message.

    2. Share in a scheduled livestream or social post.

    3. Encourage others to comment or share to raise awareness.

    November 2026: Gratitude & Reflection Stories

    Theme: Reflection and Storytelling

    Goal: Reflect on service and share experiences.

    How to Complete:

    1. Write a short reflection about a volunteer experience this year.

    2. Share on your favorite platform or with your local community group.

    3. Include at least one lesson learned or moment of growth.

    December 2026: Holiday Helper Remote Drive

    Theme: Holiday Service and Kindness

    Goal: Spread cheer and support during the holiday season.

    How to Complete:

    1. Choose one or more holiday kindness actions (making cards, fundraising, resource lists).

    2. Use templates or create your own cards.

    3. Share them with friends, families or community groups.
