Volunteer Recognition and Award Opportunities

The Global Volunteer Recognition Program™ was created to help volunteers feel seen, celebrated, and supported for the service they provide to their communities.

Volunteer recognition is more than an award. It is a meaningful way to honor dedication, encourage continued service, document impact, and inspire others to get involved.

Through membership, GVRP connects volunteers to recognition opportunities, leadership resources, award pathways, service challenges, and community celebration.

Why Volunteer Recognition Matters

Volunteers give their time, skills, energy, and compassion to causes that matter. Many serve quietly, often without expecting anything in return.

Recognition helps volunteers:

  • Feel appreciated for their service

  • Stay motivated to continue giving back

  • Document their impact

  • Build leadership confidence

  • Celebrate service milestones

  • Inspire others to volunteer

  • Connect with a positive service-focused community

Every hour volunteered has value. Every act of service matters.

How Recognition Works Through GVRP

The Global Volunteer Recognition Program offers multiple recognition pathways designed to celebrate service, leadership, and community impact.

Recognition opportunities may vary by year, eligibility, membership status, documentation, service hours, deadlines, award availability, and program requirements.

In general, members can:

  1. Join the Global Volunteer Recognition Program

  2. Volunteer in ways that fit their interests and communities

  3. Track and document volunteer hours

  4. Explore available recognition opportunities

  5. Submit required information by program deadlines

  6. Celebrate their service through awards, events, badges, spotlights, or other recognition pathways

Global Volunteer Awards™

The Global Volunteer Awards™ recognize individuals and organizations creating positive change through service. These awards celebrate compassion, leadership, dedication, and community impact.

The Global Volunteer Awards were created as a meaningful recognition pathway for volunteers, including those who may not qualify for other national programs or who want an additional way to celebrate service.

Recognition may include digital or physical award options depending on eligibility, membership status, and program availability.
