Military Community Volunteer Impact Award | Military, Veteran & Military Family Volunteer Recognition
The Military Community Volunteer Impact Award, presented by the Global Volunteer Recognition Program™ (GVRP), recognizes members of the U.S. military community who make a meaningful difference through volunteer service.
This civilian volunteer recognition is open to eligible active-duty service members, National Guard and Reserve members, veterans, military spouses, and qualifying military family members who complete at least 50 qualifying volunteer hours during a single calendar year.
Your volunteer hours do not need to be pre-verified before you apply.
Applicants submit the volunteer records, logs, screenshots, emails, letters, organization contact information, or other documentation they have available. GVRP reviews the information and completes the volunteer-hour verification process as part of the award application.
GVRP membership is not required to apply for or earn this award.
The Military Community Volunteer Impact Award is an earned recognition. GVRP must be able to verify both the applicant's qualifying military-community affiliation and the required volunteer service before the award is issued.
Who Is Eligible?
The Military Community Volunteer Impact Award is available to qualifying members of the U.S. military community, including:
-
Active-duty members of the United States Armed Forces
-
National Guard members
-
Reserve members
-
U.S. military veterans
-
Military spouses
-
Qualifying military dependents or family members with verifiable military affiliation
Applicants must provide enough information or documentation for GVRP to verify their military-community eligibility.
Volunteer Service Requirements
To earn the Military Community Volunteer Impact Award, applicants must complete at least:
50 Qualifying Volunteer Hours During One Calendar Year
Each award year follows the calendar year:
January 1 through December 31
For example, an applicant seeking the 2026 Military Community Volunteer Impact Award must complete at least 50 qualifying volunteer hours between January 1, 2026 and December 31, 2026.
Hours from different calendar years cannot be combined.
For example:
-
50 hours completed between January 1 and December 31, 2026 may qualify for the 2026 award.
-
30 hours completed in 2026 plus 20 hours completed in 2027 would not meet the requirement for either award year.
Volunteer hours may be completed with one organization or multiple organizations as long as all qualifying service occurred during the same calendar year.
What Volunteer Service Qualifies?
Eligible service must be:
-
Voluntary
-
Unpaid

If you are unsure whether an activity qualifies, GVRP may review the service as part of the application process.
Your Hours Do Not Need to Be Pre-Verified
You do not need to obtain a signed verification form or have an organization formally certify your hours before applying.
GVRP completes the volunteer verification process as part of the Military Community Volunteer Impact Award review.

You may submit documentation such as:

-
Review volunteer records or service logs

Can Hours From Multiple Organizations Be Combined?
Yes.
Volunteer hours from multiple qualifying organizations may be combined toward the 50-hour requirement.
For example:
-
20 hours at a food bank

GVRP may request additional information when the documentation provided is not sufficient to establish eligibility.
Protect Your Personal Information
GVRP does not need unnecessary sensitive information to determine your eligibility.

Can I Earn the Award More Than Once?
Yes.
Eligible individuals may earn the Military Community Volunteer Impact Award for multiple calendar years.
The eligibility and volunteer-hour requirements must be met separately for each award year.
For example, someone who completes at least 50 qualifying hours in both 2026 and 2027 may earn:
2026 Military Community Volunteer Impact Award
and
2027 Military Community Volunteer Impact Award
Each recognition represents service performed during that specific calendar year.
Is This Award Purchased or Earned?
This award is earned.
Purchasing the recognition package does not automatically qualify an applicant for the Military Community Volunteer Impact Award.
Before an award is issued, GVRP must successfully verify:
1. Qualifying military-community affiliation
and
2. At least 50 qualifying volunteer hours completed between January 1 and December 31 of the applicable award year
Applicants do not need to have their hours verified before purchasing or applying. GVRP completes the verification review using the information and documentation provided.
The cost of the recognition package helps cover:
-
Application review
-
Military-community eligibility review
-
Volunteer service verification
-
Administrative processing
-
Personalization
-
Certificate preparation
-
Recognition materials
-
Printing for applicable physical packages
An award is only issued after the applicant meets the requirements and GVRP completes the review.

Honoring Service Beyond Service
Members of the military community contribute to their communities in countless ways.
Active-duty service members give their personal time to local causes. Veterans mentor, lead, and continue serving long after leaving the military. Military spouses support organizations while navigating the unique demands of military life. Military families volunteer in schools, nonprofits, food banks, community projects, veterans organizations, and causes around the world.
The Military Community Volunteer Impact Award was created to recognize that continued commitment.
Complete at least 50 qualifying volunteer hours between January 1 and December 31, submit the service information and documentation you have available, and GVRP will complete the verification process as part of your award review.
Your hours do not have to be pre-verified. Your service simply needs to be real, qualifying, and able to be verified.
Your service matters. Your volunteer impact deserves to be recognized.
