Please review the full role, expectations and selection process below before applying. The application deadline is firm, and late applications will not be accepted.
This Is an Engaged Advisory Role, Not an Honorary Title
GVRP is strengthening its 2027 advisory structure to ensure that every person holding the title participates consistently and contributes useful guidance. Applicants should be interested in the mission and the responsibility.
Advisory Board members are expected to attend meetings, prepare for discussions, communicate reliably, provide honest professional input and uphold GVRP's standards. Continued use of the title depends on active participation and good standing.
About the 2027 Volunteer Advisory Board
The Global Volunteer Recognition Program™ is a founder-led, mission-driven LLC that recognizes volunteers and encourages service worldwide. The Advisory Board will provide nonbinding recommendations to founder and CEO Laurel Barrett while bringing broader professional and community perspectives into GVRP's strategic planning.
Term
January 1 through December 31, 2027, following required orientation and an initial 90-day conditional appointment period.
Meeting Schedule
Meetings are expected to be held quarterly, but they may be scheduled as often as monthly when needed. Most meetings will last approximately 10 to 15 minutes and will be followed by email or message communication.
Estimated Commitment
Approximately four hours per month on average for meetings, preparation, follow-up communication, advisory feedback and approved board responsibilities.
2027 Advisory Focus Areas
Applicants will identify one primary focus area and may select a secondary area. Final appointments will be based on GVRP's needs, the applicant's experience and the strength of the full advisory group.

Advise on recognition quality, accessibility, member communication, volunteer motivation, customer trust and the overall GVRP experience.
Partnerships and Community Relations
Offer perspective on partnership standards, community needs, organizational relationships, sponsorship strategy and responsible outreach.

Business Growth and Sustainability
Offer strategic insight on responsible growth, program sustainability, risk awareness, customer value and long-term business planning.

Program Guidance
Review reasonable materials, share community insight, respond to questions and provide recommendations connected to the member's assigned focus area.

Good Standing, Leave and Removal

When Circumstances Change
Members should communicate promptly if health, family, work or other circumstances affect participation. GVRP may approve a prospective temporary leave, but previously established deadlines will not be extended.
Participation Concerns
Ordinary inactivity may lead to a private check-in and written improvement period. Continued nonresponse or nonparticipation may end the appointment.
Immediate Removal
Serious misconduct, harassment, confidentiality violations, unauthorized commitments, material misrepresentation or conduct that threatens GVRP or its community may result in immediate removal.
After an appointment ends, former members may accurately identify the specific year they served. They may not suggest they are current representatives or continue using GVRP branding in a way that implies an active appointment.
