Mick Nagra Receives American Citizenship Award

Honoring Mick Nagra – Recipient of the American Citizenship Award

The Global Volunteer Recognition Program proudly recognizes Mick Nagra as a recipient of the American Citizenship Award, honoring his groundbreaking work in technology, healthcare innovation, and environmental leadership.

At only 15 years old, Mick has emerged as an inspiring example of how youth innovation can transform lives. As the co-creator of Check My Mole, an AI-powered mobile app available in 80 languages, Mick is helping users detect potential skin cancer early by analyzing skin lesion images. His work bridges artificial intelligence and preventive medicine, promoting global health equity and accessibility.

Mick’s passion for innovation began with a moment of empathy on the soccer field, which inspired him and his brothers to design Nagra Shin Guards—a next-generation protective technology engineered to reduce tibial fractures. The design is currently patent pending with the US Patent and Trademark Office, demonstrating his remarkable commitment to safety and biomedical advancement.

As the author of Code and Cure: The New Era of Intelligent Medicine and co-author of the award-winning Green Teens: Empowering Youth for a Sustainable Future, Mick combines science and storytelling to inspire his peers to view innovation as a force for good. He also co-founded Green Teen Generation, a youth-led environmental organization that drives initiatives such as tree planting, plastic reduction, and solar-powered sustainability programs.

Mick’s leadership extends to global advocacy. He organized and spoke at the World Youth Sustainability Summit, presenting “Empowering the Next Generation: The Crucial Importance of Water Conservation and Innovative Solutions to Combat Water Shortage.” His TEDx Talk, “The Future of AI in Medicine,” explored how artificial intelligence can transform healthcare with compassion and ethical responsibility.

Academically, Mick’s achievements are equally outstanding. He has earned top national rankings in math and science, including the George Lenchner Award for a perfect score in the Math Olympiad, a National Honors Distinction in the AMC8, and a Gold Award in the National French Exam.

Beyond academics and innovation, Mick gives back to his community by volunteering with United Way of Acton, My Brother’s Table Soup Kitchen, and Special Olympics Massachusetts, where he serves meals, supports adaptive sports, and assists families in need.

Mick Nagra’s achievements demonstrate that leadership, empathy, and innovation are timeless qualities. From AI medicine to environmental advocacy, he continues to shape a brighter, more sustainable world through creativity and compassion.
