Why GVRP Created a New Student Citizenship Award
The Global Volunteer Recognition Program previously offered the American Citizenship Award as a student recognition opportunity.
Because the physical components for that award were supplied through an outside organization, GVRP experienced prolonged and recurring inventory delays that made timely and dependable fulfillment difficult.
To provide students, families, educators, and youth organizations with a more reliable recognition option, GVRP is phasing out the American Citizenship Award and introducing the Global Student Citizenship & Service Award as our primary student citizenship recognition.
The new award is issued and administered directly by the Global Volunteer Recognition Program. This allows GVRP to establish clear eligibility criteria, review nominations directly, personalize approved certificates, and manage fulfillment without depending on the availability of third-party award inventory.

Does Purchasing the Award Guarantee Approval?
No. Every nomination is reviewed by the Global Volunteer Recognition Program.
Purchasing an award package begins the nomination review process, but it does not automatically guarantee approval.
The nomination should include specific and accurate examples showing how the student meets the award criteria. GVRP may contact the purchaser or nominator when additional information is needed.
If a nomination cannot be approved, the order will be canceled and refunded.

The certificate and honor cord bundle includes nomination review, a personalized digital certificate, a professionally printed certificate, and a gray volunteer service honor cord.
The gray cord represents volunteer service, humility, compassion, and community impact.
Schools, colleges, universities, and graduation programs establish their own policies regarding outside honor cords. Students should receive permission from their school before wearing the cord during an official ceremony.
The gray volunteer service graduation cord is also available separately.
How Does the Nomination Process Work?
Step 1: Choose an Award Package
Select the digital certificate, printed certificate, or printed certificate and honor cord bundle on the Global Student Citizenship & Service Award product page.
Step 2: Submit the Student’s Information
Provide the requested information, including the student’s name, grade level or educational category, school or organization, recognition year, nominator information, and a description of the student’s accomplishments.
Step 3: GVRP Reviews the Nomination
The Global Volunteer Recognition Program reviews the submitted information to determine whether the nomination meets the published award criteria.
Step 4: The Approved Award Is Personalized
Approved recipients receive a certificate personalized with the student’s name and recognition year.
Printed certificates and honor cords are mailed according to the package selected.
