At the Global Volunteer Recognition Program, we celebrate volunteers who turn everyday actions into meaningful change. Today, we are proud to spotlight GVRP member Arav Chand, who was honored with the Daily Point of Light Award for his leadership, creativity, and commitment to fighting food waste. Arav was nominated by GVRP and selected from thousands of submissions across the country. His recognition shines a light on what dedicated youth volunteers can accomplish.
Arav’s passion for service began when he recognized a major challenge, unused food often ends up in landfills instead of feeding people who need it. Determined to make an impact, he designed an innovative solution that brings sustainability and compassion together. His volunteer work focuses on reducing food waste, supporting his community and inspiring others to join the fight against hunger.
Through hands on service, awareness building and ongoing advocacy, Arav has created a model that empowers schools, families and organizations to rethink how food is collected and shared. His ability to identify a community need and transform it into a practical solution shows the power of youth in service. His commitment has created ripple effects that reach far beyond his local area.
We are honored to recognize Arav as a part of the Global Volunteer Recognition Program community. He represents the heart of our mission, celebrating volunteers who uplift others and create a better world for all.
