The 2027 Community Champion Spotlight recognizes volunteers, leaders, advocates, educators, students, caregivers, and other changemakers who are making a meaningful difference in their communities. Community Support Voting is now open as part of the 2027 program’s soft launch. Nominees who wish to participate may begin sharing their spotlight and inviting friends, family members, coworkers, organizations, and community supporters to vote for them now. The full 2027 Community Champion Spotlight program will officially launch in September 2026. All verified votes purchased during the soft launch will count toward the final results.

Each $5 purchase equals one Community Support Vote for the participating nominee you select. You may purchase:

New nominees will continue to be added throughout the program. If the volunteer you would like to support is not listed, you may nominate them for free using the nomination form on the Community Champion Spotlight page. Self-nominations are also welcome.
Two 2027 Community Champion Spotlight Recipients
Two special recipients will be announced as part of the 2027 Community Champion Spotlight.
2027 Community Choice Champion
The Community Choice Champion will be determined by the number of verified Community Support Votes received before the final voting deadline. This recognition celebrates the encouragement and support a nominee receives from friends, family members, coworkers, organizations, and members of their community.
2027 Community Champion of the Year
The 2027 Community Champion Spotlight the Year will be selected by the Global Volunteer Recognition Program Board. The Board will consider the nominee’s volunteer service, leadership, dedication, community impact, commitment to helping others, and overall story. Community Support Vote totals will not determine the Board’s selection.
Every Nominee Will Be Celebrated
The Community Champion Spotlight is designed to recognize volunteers, not only the two final award recipients. Every approved 2027 nominee will:
- Receive an online Community Champion Spotlight
- Have their volunteer story shared on the GVRP website
- Be eligible for program and social media recognition
- Be celebrated online during the 2027 recognition program
- Be recognized in person during the 2027 Global Volunteer Recognition Program Awards Ceremony
- A nominee does not need to receive votes to remain part of the program. Participating in Community Support Voting is optional.

2027 Awards Ceremony
All Community Champion Spotlight nominees will be celebrated online and in person during the 2027 Global Volunteer Recognition Program Awards Ceremony. The ceremony is tentatively being planned for September 2027, the anniversary month of the Global Volunteer Recognition Program. The final date, location, format, ticket options, and participation details have not yet been announced. Purchasing Community Support Votes does not include admission to the awards ceremony. Event tickets and participation options will be offered separately after the ceremony details are finalized. Nominees are not required to purchase an event ticket to receive their online Community Champion Spotlight recognition.
